The game is based on a wonderfully simple premise of recruiting people to join your team. Now there are a variety of distinctions (type of army, offence, defense, intelligence). Croquet Project
The Croquet Project asks "What if...we could collaborate with one another in an online dimension to create or simulate anything we wanted to?" Read more about this effort--a combination of open source computer software and network architecture that supports deep collaboration and resource sharing among large numbers of users.

This is in early development version 0.1 The download is 65meg. If you have the inclination, this is a fascinating opportunity. Having downloaded it at midnight I didn't play with it much yet...

Taipei Ludographic Game Design Workshop
Taipei Ludographic Game Design Workshop Brian David Phillips, Ph.D., C.H.has created links to resource pages for Ludographers - Game Designers - and others of their ilk. He writes "Much of this material has been assembled for the benefit of my students at National Chengchi University for their Game Design Project assignments. However, the material is also of general use to myself and other professional and non-professional game designers." The links include references to several good articles on game design as well as interesting examples.
